Most of your competitors are buying leads

The default in home services is to pay a platform for the same inquiry it sold to three other companies, then compete on calling back fastest. It works, in the sense that the phone rings. It also means you never own the customer relationship, you pay again every month, and the day you stop paying the leads stop that afternoon.

Local search is the opposite arrangement. It takes months rather than days, and the asset belongs to you. A profile that ranks and service pages that rank keep working whether or not you spend this month.

For most contractors the sensible answer is to keep buying leads while the organic side gets built, then let it take the load as it comes up. Anyone telling you to switch off the thing that currently feeds you is not thinking about your payroll.

What is different about home services

  • Urgency changes everything.

Someone with water coming through a ceiling picks from the first three results and calls whoever answers. Being fourth is being invisible, and a map pack position, meaning the three businesses Google shows on the map, is worth more here than almost anywhere.

  • Trade by trade, not one page for all.

Outdoor remodeling, design and build, hardscaping, landscape installation, and holiday lighting are separate searches with separate intent.

  • Seasonality is brutal.

Holiday lighting demand arrives in October and is over by December. If the page is not ranking before the season, the season is gone.

  • Trust is the conversion.

You are asking a homeowner to let a stranger into their house. Reviews, real photos of real jobs, clear pricing information, and named people do more than any headline.

A South Florida design and build company. Searches for a backyard remodeling company across 49 points at 3-mile spacing. Top-three finishes went from 1 of 49 on 14 April 2025 to 35 of 49 on 12 September 2026, and average position from 20.2 to 4.9, where lower is better.

Over the same stretch, call-button clicks on the Business Profile rose 112%, comparing June through August 2025 with the same months in 2026. Those are taps on the call button in the Google listing, which is what the data records. It does not tell us how many were answered, so we will not call them calls. The underlying counts and screenshots are available on request.

Seventeen months of work rather than a quick win, and that is the honest shape of this in a competitive trade.

What it costs, and what it does not include

Plans start at $1,497 a month, and every price is on the pricing page where you can read it without filling in a form. Four-month initial term, then month to month with 30 days notice, no setup fee, and you own everything built for you whether you stay or not.

Worth saying plainly: Wingman Digital does not run Meta ads and does not sell lead lists. If what you need this week is leads by Friday, this is the wrong service and paid channels are the honest answer. What this builds is the thing that eventually means you are not renting your pipeline.

Common questions

Is SEO better than buying leads for contractors?

They do different jobs. Bought leads arrive this week, are sold to your competitors too, and stop the day you stop paying. Local search takes months and the asset is yours. Most contractors should run both, and let the organic side take the load as it comes up.

How long before a contractor sees results from local SEO?

Map rankings tend to move around month three, and non-branded website traffic in month four or five. The design and build result on this page took 17 months to reach 35 of 49 top-three positions, which is what a competitive trade actually looks like.

Do I need a separate page for every service?

Yes, for anything you want to be found for. Google ranks pages rather than menus, so five trades sharing one services page means four of them cannot rank. That is the single most common reason a contractor with a decent website gets no search traffic.

How much does home services marketing cost?

Local service businesses are commonly quoted $2,000 to $4,000 a month across the industry. Wingman Digital plans start at $1,497 a month, with every inclusion listed on the pricing page. Four-month initial term, then month to month with 30 days notice, and no setup fee.
